Matthew Connors, founder of Ameri-Lips, a company that produces quality lip balm designed by soldiers for soldiers, has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for the production, marketing and distribution of this product. Ameri-Lips offers “freedom from chapped lips” and the company donates 25 cents of every sale to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Connors enrolled in the University of Rhode Island and was a member of the Cramer’s Saber Battalion ROTC. While working on his Communications degree, he became interested in advertising and developed Ameri-Lips as a product for one of his classes. Upon graduation, Connors was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Rhode Island Army National Guard for the 1-126 Aviation Battalion. He learned to fly UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and became an Army Aviator.
After his service, Connors was invited to participate in the Self Employment Assistance Program sponsored by the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training. He pitched the idea of Ameri-Lips and received immediate interest. He has pledged to donate 25 cents for each tube sold to the Wounded Warrior Project as a way of giving back to those who have sacrificed for our freedom.
