Jan 11, 2016 – Film and stage actor Jon Freda was cast by Scott Wojcik Casting out of New York to co-star in Riverside Theatre’s Equity production of Over The River And Through The Woods, Vero Beach, Florida, February 2-21, 2016. Audiences are familiar with Jon from his riveting performance as Rocco the hitman in Luc Besson’s film The Family with Robert De Niro, and his critically acclaimed role of Jimmy Durante in his Off-Broadway solo show Imagine Dat: The (after) life of Jimmy Durante. Jon is the recipient of the Outstanding Actor Award for the Cannes Film Festival entrant Sisyphus’ Supper, and winner of three screenplay awards as cowriter of the historical war drama Say Nothing, to be produced by Carey Borth Films, directed by Ludovic Bernard, in Fall 2016.
For the past thirty years, Jon’s performances range from the comedy hit TV/web series, 50 To Death, to his critically noticed dramatic portrayal of Rocco in the film, The Family. He received the Outstanding Actor Award for The Cannes Film Festival entrant, Sisyphus’ Supper, and published accolades for his portrayal of Jimmy Durante in his Off-Broadway solo show, Imagine Dat, which he wrote in cooperation with the Durante Estate. Jon Freda is also an accomplished screenwriter and playwright, receiving three awards for his feature script, Say Nothing, from the Guild of Italian American Actors; and four awards for his musical comedy stage play, Alien Adventure The Adventure, from the Midtown International Theater Festival in New York.
Jon Freda has numerous credits from stage, film, commercials and television. He co-wrote the full length comedy feature film, “Who Wants To Marry My Husband” distributed by Echelon Entertainment, was associate producer of Showcase Shorts, the first television show in Central Florida to broadcast indie national and international short films, and is the executive producer of Alien Adventure: The Adventure, an audio sci-fi comedy.
