Erick Bouaziz is a popular name considering the controversial issue he has passed through of late. Despite the smear tactics aimed at damaging his reputation, he remains committed and dedicated to not only achieve a life free of addiction but to also carry other addicts along. Though still on his way to full recovery, Erick Bouazizis a source of inspiration to many young addicts out there.
In a bid to remain actively involved in the fight against drug abuse, Erick Bouaziz established The Academy, a drug rehabilitation and treatment facility in Etobicoke, located near Kipling Avenue and Albion Road that focus on treating young people between the ages of 15 and 30. Erick Bouazizis targeting that demographic because he knows too well that people that age are vulnerable and more exposed to hard substances like marijuana and cocaine.
The Academy currently has 40 beds at its facility for patients who are struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety addiction, addiction and a host of behavioral issues. In addition, a team of experienced counselors and psychologists work with patients and guide them through on the right path to full recovery. Furthermore, the staff to client ratio at the facility is three to one, which is an added advantage to helping the patient achieve sobriety quickly.
One major reason behind the establishment of the drug rehab center is to celebrate his own success as a recovering drug addict. He attends a 12-step meeting at least 3 – 4 times a week, where he shares his own personal experience to newcomers in the facility. Giving back to the society what was freely given to him makes Erick an amazing fellow. Though his checkered past still seems to hunt him, he has never given up on his mission of helping people who are battling against substance abuse.
His transition from a chronic drug addiction into someone who is living a sober life for well over 5 years is, without doubt, one of the many achievements of Erick Bouaziz, but hardly will he start singing his own praises.
