Dr. Bernard Fialkoff, Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon of Bayside, New York, and President and Founding Sponsor of Foundation for A Drug Free World of The Americas Chapter, presented at Mayor Bill De Blasio’s recent Town Hall event on the role that drug abuse plays in connection with gun violence and crime.

Brooklyn, N.Y. – September 01, 2016 – Dr. Bernard Fialkoff, Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon of Bayside, New York, and President and Founding Sponsor of Foundation for A Drug Free World of The Americas Chapter, presented at Mayor Bill De Blasio’s recent Town Hall event in Brooklyn on the correlation of drug abuse and crime. Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York City Council Member Jumaanne Williams teamed up to discuss gun violence at the East Flatbush town hall meeting in which residents and numerous community organizations attended to join together to make a difference. Dr. Bernard Fialkoff attended on behalf of Drug Free World and spoke about the importance of drug education in detering crime and gun violence. The meeting, held at Tilden High School, was attended by numerous city officials, members of the NYPD as well as staff and volunteers of the Foundation for a Drug Free World. Dr. Fialkoff let Mayor Bill de Blasio know that the foundation is committed to providing free and accessible drug education and prevention programs citywide in the shoulder-to-shoulder effort to decrease crime and improve quality of life in NYC. 

As President of the chapter, Dr. Fialkoff is also the largest sponsor of the Americas Chapter of Drug Free World, funding more than 1100 free events since 2006. Dr. Fialkoff said, “It is important to share the knowledge we have gained as adults with our children. They are the future generation and can be helped to avoid problems that we went through in our lives. As a doctor, one of our roles is to help our community, and that’s why I support the Drug Free World initiatives.”

At a recent event, Borough President Adams declared June 21 the Foundation for a Drug-Free World Day in Brooklyn and presented a proclamation to Dr. Fialkoff that states, “I salute the Foundation for a Drug Free World for disseminating their information to 100,000 teenagers and to more than 2000 police officers in New York City who are aware of the dangers associated with drug abuse through the Foundation’s educational program.”

According to the NY Daily News, “Smack is back big time in the Big Apple, where fatal overdoses outnumber homicides and law enforcement seized roughly $300 million worth of heroin in 2014. In the first quarter of 2015, the DEA alone has already taken nearly 220 pounds of smack off the streets. “We’ve never seen these numbers, not even in the heroin epidemics from 30 to 40 years ago,” said James Hunt, special agent in charge of the DEA’s New York Field Division.” With this new promotional video, Dr. Fialkoff hopes to help deter these numbers by announcing the chapter’s campaign in providing free drug education and prevention programs to non-profit organizations, government institutions, housing projects, schools and other community centers. 

Dr. Fialkoff sponsors the humanitarian youth outreach and educational program Foundation for a Drug Free World. Through his office’s sponsorship, more than 1100 free drug education events have been conducted at schools, after-schools and other community sites throughout NYC, NJ and Latin America where multitudes of our youth and kids have been safeguarded from the ravages of drugs. Dr. Fialkoff’s mission is to safeguard our community, our families and our youth through his sponsorship of the anti-drug education program.
