He is a highly-trained and qualified hematologist with a vast expertise inall facets of his work. Dr. Galal has been practicing for over twelve years and is currently serving patients at Avera Medical Group Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant of Avera Health in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Furthermore, Dr. Galal works at Avera Cancer Institute Sioux Falls and in affiliation with University Health Center and Prairie Center Avera Health.
Dr. Galal received his medical degree in 1985 at Ain Shams University in Egypt, his native country. He served his residency in hematologic pathology and internal medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and residency in clinical hematology at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Galal underwent a hematology fellowship at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada and a Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant fellowship at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario. In addition to his medical degree, he holds a master degree of science and is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Galal keeps up-to-date with the latest developments in his field through his memberships with the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Pathology, and the College of American Pathologists. He has over 33 works published and is an active international speaker. Dr. Galal credits his success to the support he received from his family. When he was going to leave Canada, his patients wrote the government trying to have him stay. He dedicates his spare time to playing the piano and soccer.
