Miami, FL – The Colombian soccer star player Diego Romero is fielding opportunities with Major League Soccer and the North American Soccer League. Power house teams such Colorado Rapids and Armada FC of Jacksonville, Florida have shown interest and have invited him to exhibition games.

Romero (23) has had an impressive career. He played for one of Colombia’s top teams, Deportivo Cali, where he led them to win the 2011 Postobone classic in his first year as a player. After a leg injury he was loaned to Division Two team Deportes Tolima and after one season recovering he was bought by Equidadad Seguros of Bogota Colombia.

According to DIMAYOR, Colombia’s soccer governing body, Romero became only one of 11 players from Colombia in 2014 to be drafted by foreighn professional teams. He joined Yoro FC from Honduras where he led them to ascend to the first division league. Romero continued to migrate north and in 2015 he joined San Luis Potosí of the prestigious Mexican first division league.  While in Mexico, Romero learned a lot about the soccer played in the US and was scouted by several teams.

When asked about some of his greatest accomplishment, Romero states, “I think being part of the Colombian National Team Sub 20 squad in 2012 was a highlite. Only a select few get to make it that far in Colombian soccer.”

Indeed Romero reached the top of the Colombian soccer industry with a stint with the National Team. But it could be his career in the MLS that cements his legacy of a great international player from Colombia.
