Grateful Dead fans in huge droves have long lied dormant all over North America, and many of them logically concluded that there would never be another group like the legendary psychedelic folk rockers. While this is true, many fans were surprised and are now thrilled to learn that there appears to be a group in place that can properly honor, replicate and re-create the signature sound.
Mayer joins the fold knowing that the late Jerry Garcia could never possibly be replaced, but the musicians and creative forces behind this upcoming tour clearly know what they’re doing. Fans can be confident that this will be a positive experience all around.
The fun begins on October 29 in Albany, New York before shows the following days in New York City. After playing a handful of dates along the East and in the South, the tour will swing through Colorado and Nevada before finishing with two shows in San Francisco and two shows in Los Angeles in the final week of 2015.
All performances are going to be large-scale memory makers, but the two San Francisco concerts at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium are going to border on historic. Garcia and the boys romped around the Bay Area throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s, becoming the unofficial torchbearers of the counterculture movement and making hundreds if not thousands of true friends in the process.
