Lynde Washington was born July 2, 1977 in the Capital of the United States — Washington D.C. AS a child Lynde gained a passion for both art and the iconic American sport Football. During his childhood Lynde was influenced by his great-grandfather, Lynnwood “Lynde” Jordan, who at the time was a well-respected artist, jeweler, and teacher. He exposed the young Lynde to various forms of art and helped facilitate a lifelong passion to produce quality and stunning portraits and other works of art. At the same time, Lynde’s father, Joseph Washington, was teaching Lynde the “art of football”.
Eventually Lynde established himself as a quality football player and was fortunate enough to be able to attend the University of Maryland on a full athletic scholarship. During this time, Lynde earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and Art History. He then continued his education and went on to attend graduate school on another full scholarship at Hofstra University on Long Island, New York. He was then picked up by the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent. After successfully playing in the NFL, and in minor football leagues such as XFL and Arena Football, Lynde made the decision to change careers and pursue his lifelong passion of creating art.
The Art of Lynde Washington differs from other Contemporary artists, mainly because his works focus on the diverse aspects of American culture inspired by his memories of growing up in the 80s and 90s. He strives to capture his generation, his people, and his culture in the works of Contemporary Fine Art he produces.
Lynde’s work can be seen on the walls of both current and former professional athletes as well as business, corporate, and governmental buildings across the country. He values his collector and as a result, his works tend to be available in small numbered limited editions.
Lynde’s art has a strong focus on popular culture. Art enthusiasts can view the entire art collection, featuring pieces focusing on Clint Eastwood, Peyton Manning, Evander Holyfield, and even fictional characters such as Marvel’s The Hulk and iconic Don Corleone from the Academy Awarding Film “The Godfather”.
