Liverpool FC and AC Milan will collide on the pitch at Levi’s Stadium on Saturday, July 30th in conjunction with the 2016 International Champions Cup Tournament. The teams participating in the 2016 ICC include: Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and Liverpool. AC Milan and Liverpool. Liverpool was founded way back in 1892 and they are a member of the English Premier League. Their nickname is The Reds and this dominant team has won five European Cups, three UEFA Cups, 15 FA Community Shields, seven FA Cups, and an EPL record eight League titles. Of special mention is Liverpool’s phenomenal comeback in the 2005 UEFA Champions League final against AC Milan after being down by a score of 3-0. AC Milan is based in Milan, Italy and they were founded in 1899. They play in Serie A and have an amazing 18 officially recognized titles from UEFA and FIFA. Their nicknames include: I Rossoneri (The Red and Blacks), Il Diavolo (The Devil) and Casciavit (Lombard for: Screwdrivers).
Levi’s Stadium opened up in 2014 and this modern venue is located in Santa Clara, CA. In its short history, this venue has already hosted Super Bowl 50, Wrestlemania, and the NHL Stadium Series. Additionally the following concerts have occurred here: Grateful Dead Reunion, Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney. During the summer of 2016, Beyonce and Coldplay will headline here. It is the home field of NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. This summer, the venue will also host several matches in conjunction with the historic Copa America Centenario tournament.
Residents of the San Francisco Bay area will be treated to an abundance of exciting international soccer games this summer at Levi’s Stadium. The opening game of the Copa America Centenario on Friday, June 3rd between the USA and Colombia will be here along with a match between highly ranked South American teams, Chile and Argentina on Monday June 6th.
