Charlotte Humans for Positive Progress Announces #NotMyPresidentsDay Rally

Local activist group announces a #NotMyPresidentsDay Rally scheduled for February 20, 2017 in First Ward Park in Uptown Charlotte.

Local activist group, Charlotte Humans for Positive Progress, have announced that they will be hosting a #NotMyPresidentsDay Rally on Monday, February 20, 2017.  Scheduled to occur from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, the invitation is open to members of the public who are interested in protesting the policies introduced by the current White House administration.

The event is being organized by Ashley Peterson and Amanda Clark of Charlotte and York, South Carolina, respectively. The pair are co-organizers of the Charlotte airport protest, which was focused on demonstrating against the anti-Muslim ban introduced on Friday, January 27th by the current administration.  The pair were recognized for their ability to coordinate with both airport authorities and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department in ensuring a peaceful and safe environment for passengers, law enforcement, and demonstrators. It is their goal to make the #NotMyPresidentsDay rally a similar success.

“We believe that this is a great event that will bring community members together to express their frustration with the policies that are currently being introduced in Washington, DC,” states Clark.  “Our democracy is built upon allowing citizens to vent their concerns, assemble publicly and peacefully, and show our elected officials that we are watching them.  After all, they are supposed to work for us.”

The #NotMyPresidentsDay rally will be held at First Ward Park located at East 8th Street and North Brevard Street in Uptown Charlotte.  Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and Charlotte Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation are both aware of the event.  The rally will be held from 12pm until 5pm.
