Anthem, Arizona – Caurus Academy, an AdvancED accredited and “A” ranked public school is thrilled to announce the addition of 9th and 10th grade students for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Building on the current K-8 rigorous academic foundation, the inaugural high school classes will find a safe and intentionally relevant culture. Caurus families strongly desired an extension of their current academic experience hence the incredible 139% growth over the last 3 years. Caurus is now the new choice for quality public education in Anthem, Arizona.
Additionally, those in the Anthem community seeking another option for high school are encouraged to learn more about the familial nature of a smaller school with a breadth of academic and extracurricular choices. Offering honors, advanced placement, dual enrollment, and a variety of elective courses, in addition to athletic and extracurricular activities, Caurus students will receive the education necessary for success after graduation. Caurus Academy remains steadfast in combining challenging curriculum with relevant exposure to authentic learning opportunities.
Director and Caurus Principal Dameon Blair explains why there has been a tremendous growth over the last couple of years at Caurus. “We pride ourselves on having a rigorous and relevant curriculum by fostering relationships with our students,” says Blair. “Over the last three and a half years at Caurus we sustained a 139% enrollment increase which highlighted the need for another quality high school in the Anthem area.” Dameon goes on to tell us that after 9th and 10th grades are added, 11th and 12th grades will be added in subsequent years.
Students love coming to school because they are personally greeted by staff each day, celebrated for their individuality, and allowed to take risks in a respectful environment. Character pillars including Cooperation, Assertion, Respect/Responsibility, Empathy, and Self Control are implemented to help students reach their academic potential.
Dean of students Wendy Davison explains more about the importance of student activities. “At Caurus Academy, we truly believe in providing relevant extra circular activities for the students to pursue their interests outside of the classroom.” Extracurricular activities being offered at the new school include National Junior Honors Society, student council, drumline, boys’ basketball, baseball, soccer, and cross country, girls basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, cross country and cheerleading.
