Cajon Valley Utilizes Gallup Climate Survey to Increase Employee Engagement

There is no shortage of amazing things happening at Cajon Valley Union School District! Cajon Valley was the only school district highlighted at the ASU+GSV summit where school tours and sessions showed the wonderful work happening in the schools and community. The TEDxKids@ElCajon event enabled Cajon Valley teachers, staff, families and the community to get behind their kids and provide them a way to amplify their ideas. These events, among many other things, all support Cajon Valley’s mission to be the best place to live, work, play, and raise a family where happy kids are engaged in healthy relationships, on a path to gainful employment.

In order to fulfill the ultimate goal to have happy kids in healthy relationships, students need to be surrounded by happy adults in healthy relationships. Cajon Valley wants to provide its students with that positive environment, as well as be the best place to work, which is why they have teamed up with Gallup to find out exactly what will increase employee engagement.

Each employee at Cajon Valley was able to participate in a 16 question survey centered around the science behind what makes an organization a great place to work. By using the same data tools and principles that the world’s top employers like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and In N Out use, Cajon Valley has looked at each survey to assess what really matters in employee engagement. The survey asked the right questions to target what employees really want in a job and work environment and focuses in on those aspects to keep sight of the main goal.

Data from the survey will help the district determine if their employees are engaged in their jobs by looking at points that science and data show are most important for employee engagement. Those important points show whether employees feel their opinions count, appreciated, if they know what is expected of them at work, and whether or not they feel that they have friends at work. Cajon Valley has received this data and will continue to study it and work with Gallup to fine tune work conditions. As improvements are made in the climate and culture of Cajon Valley, employees will feel appreciated, supported, and engaged, leading to happier adults and happier kids!
