May 12, 2018 – The Father’s day event which families with incarcerated fathers in the counties of Philadelphia look forward to is in its second year and will be co-hosted by Bridging The Gap Transportation, LLC.
Bridging The Gap Transportation, LLC is a transportation company that operates to bridge the gap between inmates and their loved ones. They provide quality and loyal door-door services for families who have loved ones housed in facilities that are far and inaccessible, making face to face visits easy. This mission is due to Kristal Bush, the CEO’s and her team’s understanding of how broken the cycle of intergenerational involvement in the criminal justice system is, even with studies having consistently found that inmates who maintain close contact with their family members while incarcerated have better post-release outcomes and lower recidivism rates. Just Write 4 Kids is Michelle Grier’s innovation to give the gift of writing to the kids in West Philadelphia by facilitating, engaging and stimulating workshops for school-age children.
On Fathers’ Day 2018, both Philadelphia based companies will be coming together to host the 2nd Annual Father’s Day Card Making & Letter Writing to Incarcerated Fathers. For Father’s Day, both companies seek to bridge the gap between children and their incarcerated fathers by assisting with Father’s Day Card Making & Letter Writing. It is a FREE event and every child in attendance will receive a voucher to visit their incarcerated father for FREE with Bridging The Gap Transportation, LLC. Bridging the Gap will also mail letters to incarcerated parents at the workshop. Side attractions on the day of the event include Face Painting, Balloon Artists, Family Resources, and a very Special Guest to bring cheer to the kids and adults alike. A top-class DJ will be on hand to entertain the crowd to some cool music while the kids, with the help of the facilitators from Just Write 4 Kids, write their letters and make their cards for their dads.
The event will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Myers Recreation Center (5801 Kingsessing Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19143).
