The award ceremony is on January 26 and that is when they find out if they won a Gold, Silver, Bronze or Honorable Mention award. The Halifax Business Awards gala is the Chamber’s most prestigious event. The awards recognize risk takers and the success of the Halifax business community.
A thriving, expansive business, Bedford Eye Care is the first ever optometric office in Halifax to make it to the finalist level. They were chosen for the award’s Big Business category, so they will be competing with much larger companies.
A Leader of Eye Care in Nova Scotia
Bedford Eye Care has always been a leader in providing eye care in Nova Scotia. They are known for introducing new technologies and services to their patients. Through extensive research, they watch for emerging technologies and introduce them to their practice. Their practice is based on a philosophy of constant innovation and staff training. All of its optometrists are also involved with the Provincial Optometric Association and College.
In 2014, the clinic opened the first Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) clinic in Nova Scotia to treat patients with Post Trauma Vision Syndrome (PTVS). This disorder is treated with a combination of specialized glasses and physiotherapy known as Neuro Visual Postural Therapy. They developed a multi-disciplinary care model that includes working with physicians and allied health professionals throughout Nova Scotia. They accept referrals from across the Maritimes and are developing a reputation as the place to be treated for both dry eye and TBI patients.

Established in 1984 by Dr. Toby Mandelman, Bedford Eye Care is an eye health facility dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care to the residents of Bedford, Sackville, and the surrounding areas.
