Author Wanda Carr releases new book featuring practical financial advice

Book release and signing planned for August 5

A book release and signing event is planned to celebrate the launch of Wanda D. Carr’s second book, Building an Empire on Little or Nothing. With two masters degrees and a PhD, from $12 an hour and bankruptcy to an Empire. Those individuals who feel faint at heart and are looking for practical, easy to follow financial advice coupled with personal anecdotes will find precisely that within the pages of this new release.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2017, from 12-3 p.m. at The Oakwood School Upper School, 4000 MacGregor Downs Road in Greenville, N.C.

Building an Empire on Little or Nothing takes commonplace, often hard to follow money advice and turns it on its head. Instead of focusing on “keeping up with the Joneses,” readers can explore how to first be better stewards of the money they already have. They can take stock of and celebrate what makes them uniquely “rich,” turning the age-old money game into one they’ll actually want to play.

From the insightful analysis on today’s money landscape to exercises that help readers find extra money from unexpected sources, Building an Empire on Little or Nothing provides those who are struggling with finances solutions to find the perfect balance.

“I was a single parent, and I raised a child with no child support,” Carr said. “I was able to build a home, buy cars, and I’m constantly building. My daughter graduated in May 2016, and I was able to put her through four years of college.”

Building an Empire on Little or Nothing is jam-packed with personal anecdotes designed to be positive and uplifting, such as how Carr was able to save and invest regardless of her income level.

“When you’re making more money, you should be putting more money away,” Carr said. “When you’re making less money, you should have some money put aside and even if you can only put one dollar away, put it away and don’t go back and touch it.”

Carr is also the author of Ride Out The Storm and the owner of Helping Hands Consultant, a consulting firm located in Greenville N.C., specializing in tax preparation, accounting, mentoring and coaching services.

She has a passion for teaching, mentoring and coaching others. She continues to seek ways to research and study the progression of women in the 21st century, and ways to motivate, encourage and empower individuals.

Carr currently works as the assistant business manager for The Oakwood School and as an adjunct professor at North Carolina Wesleyan University.
