Acclaimed Actor/Writer Matt Doherty of The Mighty Ducks Franchise Will Have a Staged Reading for Industry Guests of His New Work “Brothers Play”

Hollywood, CA – September 8, 2017 – Twenty-five years after the release of the classic 90’s movie “The Mighty Ducks,” Matt Doherty continues his multifaceted journey, and is attracting both, Hollywood execs and theater producers to his work. Matt is honored that The Actors Studio West is graciously providing the space for the staged reading of his new work “Brothers Play.” The late-great Martin Landau, and former Artistic Director of The Actors Studio West, gave his blessings after reading, and declared that “Brothers Play” is a groundbreaking piece of theater.” “Marty was such an influential force in my life,” Matt states, “and he nurtured my growth as a man and writer.”

“Brothers Play” set in Chicago begins as Thomas shatters the code of silence when he throws a brick through the stained-glass window at church, just days leading up to Christmas – breaking with tradition to question the holy trinity of shame, family secrets, and alcoholism. In brief, “Brother Play” is a nativity scene…of sorts; a gut-wrenching comedy about the long-term effects of ritualized sex abuse. And true to its title ultimately about love between the three Irish brothers. Men who have grown old without ever having grown up. And the insane ways they cope with all that is broken inside.

“Brothers Play” features three dynamic veteran actors, Michael Raymond -James, Eddie Kehler. and James Harvey Ward, and will be under the direction of Javier Molina.

The Actors Studios is located at 8341 DeLongpre Avenue in West Hollywood, CA 90069, and the reading will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2PM.
