– Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild
On August 1, 2016, a young man will drive out of Germany—his first time leaving Europe by car—and begin a months-long road-trip that will take him through Southeast Asia, up along the eastern coast of China, and back through Mongolia and Russia to return to Germany. Kaposi András, a Hungarian-born, Millennial-aged man—will complete this amazing expedition through grit, living off small jobs along the way, and a small amount of funds raised from a GoFundMe campaign to purchase a cheap, beater car.
At the end of his journey, András intends to re-donate 10% of all private donations, as well as the car and equipment purchased for the journey.
“I want to show that one doesn’t need to be a millionaire to travel the world—that the unusual destinations are much more interesting and eventful—and also how far can one get by such a cheap car,” says Kaposi András. “For that I’ll need a great deal of spare time, surrender, courage, intrepidity, and some money too—even if not as much as you’d think.”
The crowdfunding campaign for the multi-continent expedition is live now on GoFundMe, and will continue until András begins his journey in August 2016. On GoFundMe, contributors can give any amount they wish, or purchase specific gifts such as camping gear, spare tires, and vaccinations. On his blog, supporters can purchase sponsorship opportunities, including car stickers with company logos.
