Los Angeles, CA – May 20, 2017 – TriCoast Worldwide presents ROSENN, starring Rupert Everett and up-and-coming Belgian actress, Hande Kodja. Rosenn (Kodja) is an ingénue in the prime of her life who falls in love with Lewis Lafoly (Everett), a famous English writer in his fifties who has come to Paris to rest from his hectic and directionless life.
Lafoly wears a mask of seduction while hiding his deceptive intentions. Lafoly falls in love with Rosenn, but ultimately his true colors come to light when he leaves her, alone and pregnant. Through abandonment, hardships and war, Rosenn accepts her tragic destiny and bends to the tides of life with an almost mystical resignation. A stunning period piece, ROSENN is a beautifully shot emotional roller coaster. If renown English novelist and poet Thomas Hardy wrote in the tropics, ROSENN would be the treasure he would create.
ROSENN was nominated for the Magritte Award, Belgium’s equivalent of the Academy Award. On the festival circuit, the film’s cast walked the red carpet and closed the Chelsea International Film Festival, and opened the French section of the Molodist Film Festival Kiev (Ukraine).
Rupert Everett is best known as Julia Robert’s gay best friend and confidant in My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Christopher Marlowe in the Academy Award winning film, Shakespeare in Love. He also played the smug and smarmy villian Dr. Claw in Inspector Gadget, and the not-very-princely Prince Charming in Shrek 2. Hande Kodje credits include Marieke, Marieke, and Murderers, for which she was nominated for a Magritte Award.
ROSENN is directed by Yvan Le Moine, whose first feature, The Red Dwarf, was an official selection in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs). Le Moine also directed Friday or Another Day, which won Best Actor Award at the Locarno Film Festival. Le Moine co-produced as well, along with Laurence Castermans, Viviane Vanfleteren, Amedeo Pagani and Igor Sekulic.
