A Christian homeschooling program provides students with the same subjects that are studied in school but integrate Christian values into the material covered.
2B Totally Literate is dedicated to Christian education. Christian educators are supported through textbooks and materials that instill a biblical worldview, are academically rigorous, encourage critical thinking and use technology solutions for parental support.
Students are introduced to content appropriate for their academic level. The content learned helps students learn to analyze, evaluate and to create. The materials used contain descriptive text and asks questions to promote thinking. Media such as photos, illustrations, maps, and charts are utilized to promote a deeper understanding of topics covered.
2B Totally Literate offers reading comprehension exercises that can improve students’ reading skills. Recognizing letters and words is an important first step in learning to read. However, it is only a first step; it is vital that students comprehend, or understand, what they are reading. They must be able to get the meaning of the text: What is the author telling the reader? This is reading comprehension, and it is an essential skill for success in school and in the real world.
2B Totally Literate uses literacy games as instructional tools in the classrooms. Through literacy games, students can learn a variety of important skills. There are countless skills that students can develop through game playing such as critical thinking skills, creativity, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. By playing literacy games, students may be able to understand a new concept or idea, take on a different perspective, or experiment with different options or variables.
Classic lullabies and nursery rhymes are important tools used by 2B Totally Literate. Mostly used to teach a toddler to speak and count, lullabies and nursery rhymes is an entertaining and effective way of accomplishing many goals. Nursery rhymes are good for team activities. Listening and singing nursery rhymes together allows kids, including shy ones, to feel comfortable and confident about singing and performing. They see and know the relations between rhythm, movement and words.
Nursery rhymes also help children develop and make them smart. Researches have revealed that children that are immersed by nursery rhymes and lullabies in their first few years become better readers and do better in school when they become older. Listening to lullabies and nursery rhymes trains kids to listen and focus. This equips the kids’ brain ready to read, recognize and translate what they heard to written words in the future.
2B Totally Literate uses 361 rhyming stories to teach children how language works. It helps them notice and work with the sounds within words. When children are familiar with a rhyming story, they learn to anticipate the rhyming word. This prepares them to make predictions when they read; this is another important reading skill.
