Culver City, CA – April 25, 2016 – Closely adapted from the autobiographical book “10 Days in a Madhouse,” 10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE is the story of feminist journalist Nelly Bly’s experience of 10 grueling and horrifying days as she went under cover in the notorious Blackwell’s Island Woman’s Insane Asylum in New York City. Her expose for Joseph Pulitzer’s New York World Newspaper was groundbreaking. First for it’s content, second for the fact that investigative reporting at the turn of the century was not a woman’s place.
10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE is written and directed by Timothy Hines (War of the Worlds; The True Story), and in the title role as Nellie Bly is newcomer Caroline Barry, who was chosen from 8,000 contestants through a star search with the assistance of Google and YouTube. The film also features Christopher Lambert (Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan; Highlander) and Kelly Le Brock (Weird Science, The Woman in Red).
10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE had a sold out US premiere at the esteemed Bentonville Film Festival, Geena Davis’ festival celebrating women and diversity. The film then went on to have a successful international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. It is currently in theaters in North America, visit the website for updated city and theater information.
10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE premieres April 28 on DirectTV.
